A new study has determined that an apple a does in fact keep the doctor away.
Malusdomesticaphobia, or fear of apples, is found in nearly 100% of physicians across the United States.
“The fear seems to develop most commonly between third year in medical school and residency,” one of study’s authors stated.
“As to the cause, we really have more work to do on that.”
The ailment does not appear to affect other healthcare workers, such as nurse practitioners or physicians assistants, however.
Experts say that while no injuries have been reported so far, it’s best to play it safe and leave the apples at home.
